This is a 2-day class. Classes will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The date on the schedules below is the date of the first day, the second class will happen the following day. No walk-ins or late arrivals will be accepted on the day of the class.  No walk-ins or late arrivals

The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider course is designed to train healthcare professionals in managing patients with acute cardiac illnesses using the most current methods available. Information will be reviewed and practice time will be made available to enhance proficiency in the following modalities:

  1. Visit elearning.heart.org/courses.
  2. Find the course name ( ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work).
  3. Once you find your course, select Launch Course to begin.
  4. You must pass pre course assessment before viewing your video lessons. (3 hours long)

Precourse Requirements

You should prepare for class by doing the following:

  1. Review and understand the information in your ACLS Provider Manual.
  2. Review, understand, and pass the mandatory precourse self-assessment.
  3. Review, understand, and complete the mandatory precourse work (video lessons). You must pass the precourse self-assessment before gaining access to the video lessons. Once you have passed the ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work by completing the video lessons, print your certificate, and bring it with you to class.
  • Adjuncts for management of airway control and ventilation
  • Dysrhythmia recognition and cardiac monitoring
  • Synchronized cardioversion and defibrillation
  • Pharmacology for cardiac care
  • Management of acute MI and stroke
  • Management of bradycardic and tachycardic patients

Course Completion Requirements To receive a course completion card, the student must:

  • Complete pretest and achieve a passing grade (≥70)
  • Attend and participate in the entire course
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Adult BLS (CPR) skills
  • Pass skills tests
  • Pass written test.
  • Prerequisites: Current valid  AHA/ BLS and ACLS Provider certification, and a completed mandatory pre-course exam and video's. The pretest can be accessed by going to eLearning.heart.org/courses and then placing ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work in your search bar. You must pass the mandatory pre-test with a 70% or better to be allowed access into the class. Note: If you haven't already logged in, the system will ask you to do so. If you haven't visited the site before, you'll be prompted to set up an account. If you are unable to print your pre-test, please arrive early to print from our computer lab. Please print your current BLS, ACLS and 2 certificates of Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work, (video's).

 BLS written test and skills will be held on the a scheduled day. Candidates will be tested in the following areas:

  • Adult and Pediatric BLS skills
  • BLS didactic knowledge

**Candidates must successfully complete the pretesting in ALL areas WITHOUT remediation.

An AHA Instructor Course teaches the methods needed to effectively instruct others in resuscitation courses. The minimum age to become an AHA Instructor is 18 years. 

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • You MUST hold a current AHA/BLS Provider card to be eligible. *Non-healthcare providers must also have current AHA first aid status.
  • Must show exemplary BLS skills.
  • Complete the AHA Instructor Essentials online course. The BLS Instructor Essentials Course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA Instructor-led and blended learning courses. The course educates instructor candidates on how to adequately use AHA Instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet learning objectives, offer student coaching skills, provide an objective skills performance evaluation, and follow AHA Instructor and course policies. The course covers core content and discipline-specific content required to teach. To access the BLS essentials please use the link; www.elearning.heart.org. Please use drop down in the search bar;  (Instructor Training), and then add Instructor essentials to you cart. The cost from AHA for this course is $40.00.
  • Identify TCs accepting new instructors before enrolling in an instructor program (the TC hosting the course may not necessarily be the same as the primary designated TC)
  • Complete an Instructor Candidate Application to be on file with the accepting primary TC
  • Meet all renewal requirements for instructor status renewal (they must teach the required minimum of 5 ILT or skills portions of a HeartCode course in accordance with the guidelines of the AHA and Atlanticare).
  • Register on the Atlas/AHAInstructorNetwork.org and be accepted and approved by Atlanticare Training Center for issuance of their Instructor ID number from the Network, which must be used to issue course completion cards/ecards.

Basic Life Support (BLS)
In this classroom-based course, healthcare professionals learn to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR to victims of all ages, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

This course is for both Initial and Renewals.

Accessing eCard Profiles Students who are issued eCards have the benefit of self-service and can access their eCard Profile any time at www.heart.org/cpr/mycards. To log into the eCard Profile, the student simply enters his or her First Name, Last Name, and Email Address (must be the email address the student used to claim the eCard). Or the student can log in by entering the eCard Code found on the eCard. The student will be prompted to enter the security answer created when he or she initially claimed the eCard.

This is a community course and is open to all participants

 

Description: The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Course content includes Rescuer Safety, Recognition of Emergencies, General Principles, Medical Emergencies,Injury Emergencies, CPR AED, and Environmental Emergencies will also be covered in this course.


Intended Audience:For those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements or anyone interested in learning how to respond to various illnesses and injuries. The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recertification course is for healthcare professionals who already hold a current PALS certification and need re-certification. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certification card valid for two years.  If your PALS card has expired, you may sign up for this course; however, you must successfully complete both written and practical skills testing without remediation in order to receive a course completion card.

Course Completion Requirements To receive a course completion card, the student must • attend and participate in the entire course, • demonstrate proficiency in CPR skills, pass required skills tests, and • pass required written tests.

Prerequisites: 

 Current valid AHA /BLS Provider certification, and a completed mandatory pre-course assessment exam and work videos. Visit elearning.heart.org/courses.

Community needs to call 609-407-7771 to register for Heartcode Courses Online. No pretest is required for Heartcode Online ACLS and PALS, only traditional classes.

Instructors will be available to assist for technical support as needed to complete the skills verification.

If you need to reschedule or cancel your registration, please send your name, the date of the course, and the date you would like to attend if rescheduling to the email address listed above. Should we not receive your cancellation 3 days prior your class and 1 day prior for skills you will be charged for the skill check day or class. Once we cancel your skills or class then you may reschedule as this will free up a seat for someone else. All Skills are scheduled, NO WALK-INS

All Atlanticare employees are expected to follow the dress code policy when attending courses and skills.The policy is ID No. 416 Dress and Personal Appearance Policy.Shoes must conform to safety by providing safe footing as many students need to stand on step stools. Please, absolutely no flip flops, tank tops/leggings or shorts.
